About
History department at Sri Venkateswara college provides a space to students for vibrant discussions and explorations in the realms of human history of various periods and regions. History Department in this college was established in 1970 and it has a legacy of having dedicated and accomplished faculty, a tradition which has continued till date. There are nine faculty members who specialize in diverse aspects and periods of History curriculum. Teachers are deeply passionate about the subject, who very frequently mentor the students in internship programmes, further studies abroad and research projects. Courses are taught in a way which fosters critical thinking, analytical reasoning and deep understanding of historical contexts among the students. Students are encouraged to engage with latest historical trends in history writing and to apply interdisciplinary approaches. The department has a well-run association which is comprised of a few students belonging to all the years and a teacher, who, in the capacity of Association In charge, guides the students to organize various events, like seminars, academic workshops, or inter-college competitions etc. The department conducts a flagship festival or an academic meet popularly known as “Legacy”, every year. The History Department of Sri Venkateswara college, plays a crucial role in shaping informed, well-rounded and empathetic citizens, who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to society. The department is committed to academic excellence and a spirit of social responsibility. The History department endeavours to foster a lifelong love of History and learning among its students.
