The B.A (Honours) Economics programme of SVC is a much sought after programme by students from across the country. Students who enrol in Economics (Honours) Programme receive Honours Degree after three years and Honours Degree with Research after completion of four years.
We offer B.A. (Programme) with Economics as Major as well. Students who enrol in B.A. (Programme) with Economics as Major shall receive simple Degree after three years and Honours Degree in Economics after four years.
The Department also offers a Minor Degree in Economics (To students other than Economics Honours and Economics as Major in B.A. Programme). All the above Programmes are as per Undergraduate Curricular Framework-2022 (UGCF) under NEP 2020 and the curriculum set by the Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics.
The Department has eleven permeant faculty who are committed for quality teaching, research and mentoring of students to realise their full intellectual potential.
The Department has a dynamic student body i.e. Economics Association that organises the annual fest. BLISSPOINT, which attracts national and international participation. On this occasion an Annual Magazine ECON EXPRESSIONS is released that contains students’ articles on contemporary socio, political, economic issues.
The Department conducts knowledge and skill enrichment activities/events for students such as Distinguished Lectures by eminent persons from Academic, Government and Corporate Sector, Workshops, Alumni Inspire Session, and Symposium etc. Few eminent persons who have visited the College in the past were Dr. Manmohan Singh, Shri. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Dr. C. Rangarajan, Prof. K.L. Krishna, Dr. Shankar Acharya, Dr. M. Govinda Rao, Dr. David C. Mulford, Prof. K. Srinath Reddy, Prof. Pami Dua, Prof Shreekant Gupta, etc. and the in the recent Dr. Arvind Virmani, Dr. K.K. Tripathy, Prof. Ram Singh, Prof. Rohini Somanathan, Prof. Aditya Bhattacharjea etc.
The Department has a very good academic progression and placement record of students. Students after completion of their Degree opt for either Post Graduation, Employment or Preparing for Competitive Exams etc. A large number of students in the last four years pursued higher studies in India & abroad the details are as follows.
